Development Associate (Half-Time)

Job Summary:
The Development Associate’s primary role is to work with the Development Committee and Executive Director on the Development Plan and assist with the implementation of the plan. This includes researching and identifying funding opportunities, creating solicitations, tracking active and prospective donors in the database, assisting with fundraising events and grants, and providing general administrative support related to the organization’s development efforts. Some but not all work can be done remotely.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of experience in nonprofit development/fundraising.
  • Background in direct services and programs, preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize daily responsibilities while maintaining the flexibility to shift as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to confidently present in front of a large diverse audience.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency and experience with database programs.
  • Detail-oriented and have the capacity to coordinate projects and events.
  • Ability to work independently and delegate effectively.
  • Ability to set priorities based on tasks and deliverables.
  • Ability to creatively problem-solve and remove barriers.
  • Must have transportation to meetings and events outside of the TIHAN office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Executive Director and Development Committee to create, delegate, and implement the Development Plan.
  • Work with the Manager of Operations and Programs to develop processes and procedures around tracking and retrieving information in the database.
  • Implement the Development Plan including calendaring, follow up, data tracking, and reporting.
  • Assist with research and writing of grants to foundations and corporations, working with Board, volunteers, and staff.
  • Create and manage fundraising appeals from drafting content to tracking gifts generated.
  • Assist with fundraising and coordinating events in conjunction with the Development Committee and Executive Director.
  • Attend monthly Development Committee and event planning meetings.
Hours and Benefits:
Part-time (20 hours per week), non-exempt position.  Some weekend and evening hours are necessary based on events and projects.  Some but not all of the work may be done remotely.  This position reports to the Executive Director.  The following benefits are provided:
  • Retirement plan (Simple IRA with 3% match by TIHAN of employee contributions)
  • Vacation time and sick time accrue on a prorated basis based on hours worked, along with some holiday pay
