"Is Cis Gay White the New Straight?"

Bill Konigsberg will discuss living and writing at a time when massive shifts are taking place in mainstream and alternative culture regarding perceived privilege. He will also discuss his own decade-long journey as a young adult author writing for LGBTQ youth. Focusing on the changing landscape, he will delve into the issues related to writing from the perspective of a young LGBTQ person as someone from another generation, as well as the intersections of race, class, gender, and sexual orientation.

Bill Konigsberg is the awardwinning author of four young adult novels. He has won the PEN Center USA Literary Award, the Stonewall Book Award, the Sid Fleischman Award for Humor, and was a finalist for the Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award and Lambda Literary Award.

The Stonewall Series is an LGBTQ+ author and speaker series presented by the Pima County Public Library LGBTQ+ Services Committee. This program takes place in the month of June to commemorate the 1969 riots at the Stonewall Inn, and the ongoing fight for equal rights for all people in the LGBTQ+ community.
